Architectural and solid, this chair is made from thick, flat pieces of solid wood rather than turned legs. The front and back legs are broad slabs, the back is a single curved rail that wraps around the rear of the seat, and the seat is a thick cream cushion with a rounded edge. The finish is a warm natural oak tone.
The heavy frame makes it stable and hard to tip, which matters in busy rooms with children, and its sculptural look holds attention on its own in a window seat or by a planter, as in the photos. It is heavier than a typical cafe chair, so it suits table-service rooms more than counter-order cafes where chairs are moved constantly.
Construction: solid hardwood slabs, glued and doweled or mortise-and-tenon jointed, catalyzed lacquer; upholstered seat on plywood with high-resilience foam; felt or nylon glides.
Where it works: brunch restaurants, hotel cafes, concept cafes and tasting rooms.
Options: wood species and stain, seat fabric or leather (COM/COL accepted), armless only.
