This sofa is reduced to simple soft shapes: two thick, rounded seat blocks placed side by side, and one long cylindrical bolster resting along the back of the first block. Everything is upholstered in a cream textured fabric, and the blocks sit almost directly on the floor on concealed feet.
The open, partly backless design means guests can sit facing either way, which makes it handy in the middle of a lounge or along a gallery wall. The blocks are separate, so they can be spaced apart, rearranged or supplied in longer runs. Seat height is a little lower than our chairs, which reads as relaxed and suits low coffee tables.
Construction: plywood frames with high-resilience foam and fiber wrap, contract fabric; bolster with internal frame fixed to the base block; concealed glides.
Where it works: coffee shop lounges, gallery and museum cafes, coworking cafes and hotel lobbies.
Options: number of blocks, bolster position, fabric (COM accepted); CAL TB 117-2013 foam on request.
