This is a sculptural piece: the back starts low at one end, rises and curls around the other end like a wave, and leaves the open end free as a low chaise. The seat follows the same kidney-shaped curve, and the whole sofa is upholstered in a fine cream textured fabric on a slim, recessed dark plinth.
The open end lets guests sit from two directions, so it can float in the middle of a room or sit beside a window with the chaise toward the view. It works best as a single feature piece in a lounge, surrounded by small tables and simple chairs. Leave at least 36 in (91 cm) of clear floor around the open end so guests can reach the chaise without squeezing past other furniture.
Construction: shaped plywood and solid wood frame, high-resilience foam with fiber wrap, contract fabric; recessed plinth with glides.
Where it works: hotel lobbies, concept-store cafes, salons and gallery cafes.
Options: left- or right-hand sweep, length, fabric (COM accepted); CAL TB 117-2013 foam on request.
