Plush checkerboard pile is one of the most photographed fabrics in coffee shops right now, and this family puts it on honest, exposed wood frames. The fabric is a deep faux shearling in squares of chocolate, caramel and cream; the frames are solid wood in a walnut-tone stain.
Frame shapes shown:
- a sloping armchair with triangular cane side panels and a loose back cushion
- a curved one-piece back on an open frame with flat wood arms
- a button-tufted armchair with cane panels between the legs
- an armchair with upholstered arm caps on a compass-leg frame
- an armless slipper on two V-shaped legs
- a low slipper resting in an open sled frame
Pick one shape for a whole lounge corner or mix two, since the fabric ties them together. All are lounge height, built for side tables and longer stays rather than dining.
Construction: solid wood frames, glued and screwed, catalyzed lacquer; cane webbing in routed frames; plywood deck, high-resilience foam and fiber wrap; contract-grade faux shearling.
Where it works: coffee shop lounges, dessert cafes, hotel cafes and concept stores.
Options: frame shape, stain, alternative fabrics (COM accepted); CAL TB 117-2013 foam on request.
