Corduroy brings a tactile, slightly retro mood to a lounge corner, and the Gibraltar shows it off. The vertical wales run from the floor up over the curved back, so the chair reads as one soft, ribbed form. The rust color shown sits well with walnut, terracotta tile and brass, all common in coffee shop fitouts.
The back and arms wrap the seat in a single curve, giving guests support on three sides in a footprint not much wider than a dining armchair. The deep seat cushion has a rounded front edge, so the back of the knees is never pressed against a hard rail.
Construction: bent plywood and hardwood frame, high-resilience foam with fiber wrap so the wales stay crisp, upholstered plinth with concealed glides.
About corduroy in cafes: choose a contract-grade corduroy with a high rub count; we can also make the same shape in a ribbed performance velvet for heavier traffic.
Where it works: lounge corners, cafe-lounges, specialty coffee shops with a 1970s palette.
Options: corduroy, velvet or chenille in any color (COM accepted); foam specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 on request.
