Think of the Lungo as a Paris bistro chair that took a holiday. The frame is solid wood in a natural honey finish, with a rolled top rail that is comfortable to grab when pulling the chair out. Between the rails sits an open lattice of flat rattan strips, woven loose enough to let light through and firm enough to support a long conversation. The seat is a tight panel of woven cane set into a shaped wood rim.
Under the seat, curved bentwood braces link the legs in the traditional bistro way. They add stiffness against the racking that kills cheap chairs in busy rooms, and they give the chair its relaxed silhouette.
Care: rattan and cane are natural fibers. Keep them out of all-day direct sun and away from heaters, and wipe rather than soak. A loose seat pad can be added for heavier daily use.
Where it works: neighborhood coffee shops, wine-and-coffee bars, patisseries with a European look.
Options: natural, walnut or black stain; seat in cane or upholstered pad; glide type for your floor.
